Penny for the Guy!

Today is Guy Fawkes day, celebrated in rememberance of the 1605 Catholic plot to destroy the British House of Parliment by lighting barrels of gunpoweder under it when it was in session, and the man who almost did it.

Guy has been both vilified and romanticized in recent years, most notably by the fantastic movie "V for Vendetta". (I could almost forgive the Wachowski brothers for the Matrix sequels because of this movie. Almost.)

Guy tried to take a definative action against the injustices of Britan toward Catholics at the time. Now, whether you agree with him or not, you have to admit he actually stood up and tried to do something to change the world as he knew it. As history tells us, he ended up swinging for it.

And just think, 400 years later all you have to do to change things is push a few buttons on November 8th. Without the threat of getting a birds-eye view of Tyburn Hill.

You can read about political current affairs on my friend Mushtaq's blog, he does a great job of showing the gov't for the farce that is has become. But the biggest thing he is telling you is to get out there, register and make your voice heard. Remember, that coke-snorting pseudo literate power mad two-faced bigot we elected emperor of America works for US, not the other way around. And he's coming up on his 90 day review.

So I have created a spin on the famous "Gunpowder Treason" poem, in celebration of Guy Fawkes and to remind everybody that IT'S STILL UP TO US!!! If you live between California and Florida, and Canada is to the north of you, you have a responsibility. More importantly, YOU HAVE A VOICE, go out and use it.

Because if things keep going in this direction, in ten years, you may no longer have it.

Hope you enjoy the poem. I'm heading to the Three Lions pub to go from zero to drunk in 20 dollars.

"Remember, remember, the 8th of November
and everything for which we have fought.

I see no reason why Bush, for his treason,
shouldn't be blindfolded and shot."

"Vote for Guy Fawkes, the only man to enter Parliament with honest intentions."

For fuck's sake people, get out and vote the bastards out.
