God-DAMMMITT!!!!!!

A lesson to those who wait

I vaguely remember having an awesome line of thought at 3 am last night, regarding my book on teaching Pencak Silat. I remember it was incredible, a breakthrough in what I have been trying to say all these years . I mean, THIS WAS IT, it was something that shot through the clouds and hit me with the hammer of God.

It was insightful.

It was inspiring.

It was PROFOUND.

...I didn't write it down, and now it is GONE.

I don't remember a damn thing.

FAAAAAWWWK!

Sorry man. If it was that good it will come back to you someday and most likely at another inappropriate moment and you'll tell someone to write it down, but they will just run off (Throw me the idol, I'll throw you the whip!)
don't sweat it too much.

To much Chimay perhaps...LOL...seriously though Bobbe I to fall prey to that as well. I now keep a notebook in the truck, by the bed, and in the office..just in case an epiphany pops through the clutter of my once pink mind.

Here's the thing, the damned thing, is that I HAD A NOTEBOOK BY THE BED FOR JUST SUCH AN OCCASION!! It's happened before, I think of a great book or story idea, something cool from martial arts, or maybe a poem, and I think "This is so great, I'll just jot it down in the morning".

Grrrr...And d'ya know what? It really WAS something great, something I had been looking for to tie several lessons together with.

What can I say...I'm an idiot. I just hope it floats back into my stunted cerebral cavity before too long.

Can you think of anything extraneous that was going through your mind? What else that you may think is totally unconncted can you remember? Start piecing back together all the things you can remember when you had the thought. How warm was it? Did you have a full stomach? What lights were on? What were you thinking about before or after? Kinda like a Hypnotist setting the scene for a repressed memory. You'd be surprised if you can recreate some of the seemingly insignificant hints your body does remember how you can link them to the memory and get it back. I use this consistently to find something in the house that someone else has lost and simply cannot find. Happens regularly for us.

Always the notebook. Always write it as soon as it blooms.

Won't always help. I always liked the old doper story. Guy drops acid, and in the middle of the night, the secret of the universe pops into his head. Wow!

He knows if he doesn't write it down, he'll never remember it, so he marshals his concentration, manages to find paper and pencil, and by God, gets it written!

Trips off, loses it, but remembers in the morning that he captured it, the secret of the universe!

Finds the paper and thrilled with excitement reads it.

And it says;

"There's a funny smell in the room ..."

I was half asleep in bed...Although I will admit that I did indeed have a Chimay Blue beforehand.

...Shit, what if it all really was just a funny smell...?
