So I was talking to a friend on the phone a few days ago while researching something online, when "BAOWRNNN". The screen went blank and the disc drives went silent.
My computer shut down faster than a crack supplier at a DEA parade.
Godammit.
Luckily, all my networking skills have not deserted me these past weeks, and I realized that it was probably a motherboard or power supply issue. A couple of minutes later, and I had nailed it: My power supply had failed.
I also realized that I had been ripped off by the company I had ordered the computer from; I had initially spec'd it out to include a 500W supply, and they had only given me a 300W. Barely enough to run two hard drives on, and here I was rocking FIVE, with a firewire connection and USB 2.0 hub as well. Sons O' Bitches.
Booted it back up last night, and all systems fired right up, no worries.
Except for email, of which I had amassed over 300 in the past few days of no computer. Several of which say "Hey, why haven't you answered me?"
The ironic thing here? That friend I was on the phone with was just explaining to me about his computer problems, and I was trying to diagnose them. Grrr....
Time to start deleting again...
